Basketball

4th-8th Grade Traveling Basketball

The YMCA is partnering with the Monroe Youth Basketball Club to provide our community with a basketball opportunity once again this year. Practices will be held on an evening or two weekly typically at an elementary school or at the Monroe Middle School. Practices will focus on teaching the fundamentals and a love of the game. Each teams coach will set up tournaments, or a league opportunity to add competitive games to the experience. Typically practices will begin in November and the season will run towards the end of February. Boys and girls have their own teams and they will also be separated by grade level. Going into the 7th & 8th grade level there may be an opportunity to divide teams into skill levels if the numbers are there.
For all grades we ask that you sign up before the tentative end of registration date. Signing up early helps us move the scheduling piece along at a quicker pace. It also allows for us to get a head count on how many participants each team will have.
**Participants must live in Monroe to play for the Green County YMCA teams. The exception is if someone from a different community wants to play for Monroe because their community does not offer organized basketball for that particular grade. If you are from another community outside of Monroe and you are unsure what to do, please call the YMCA at 608-325-2003 & ask to speak to the Sports Director**
Registration dates: July 31st - September 16th
Mandatory Coaches Meeting: TBD
Practice/gym time will be discussed at this meeting so bring your calendars!
Jerseys will be provided with a rental fee of $10.00. We will also require a $25.00 deposit check for the jersey at the time of registration. Jerseys will need to be returned at the end of the season in good condition (no stains or tears). If your jersey is returned in poor condition you will not receive your deposit check back and will be charged for the remaining cost of the jersey.

Grades 2 & 3 Boys & Girls Basketball

As players progress through the YMCA program, grade 2 is the milestone. At grades 2-3 there will be some games played. It is the desire of the YMCA to keep grades together when playing all leagues. On occasion, the grades might have to be grouped to make even teams and a desirable league. There are separate leagues for boys and girls. Practices are held once a week. Times will be determined by volunteer coaches. *Please carry in the shoes that will be used during play to help keep the court dry*

Registration opens Monday, November 5
Games are played Saturday mornings, 8:30am at Northside Elementary
